Thomas John Bacon is an artist whose work focuses upon the conception of the body, Being & the idea of a
multiplicity of Self/s, both embodied & disembodied, in performance. Beginning in experimental theatre his work
can now be located within the framework of live art & philosophical/phenomenological investigations that are
characterised through their use of a physical body and, occasionally a distilled manipulation of Butoh
methodologies in performance practice. Thomas looks to explore how Being in performance may be challenged;
embracing the potential for risk of failure and in doing so, openly expand the perception of multiples of Self/s.
Thomas has performed at a range of festivals & venues within the UK and internationally. He has a Masters from Goldsmiths College, University of London in Performance and currently lectures on a variety of performing arts courses. Thomas's doctoral research was recently upgraded for completion with Bristol University and has the title: Experiencing a multiplicity of Self/s. He also writes as a performance critic for Total Theatre Review as well as other publications.
